A staffer who resigned from NASA after he was accused of restricting access to a noted climate scientist said Thursday he was targeted because of his political ties.

As I mentioned ealier, my blog is going through some sweeping changes, that will extend into the coming month. On the way is a brand new layout, featuring some CSS and hopefully Flash, instead of the stupid Blogger templates.

Im also going to be adding a hit counter, a post-via-email setup, and hopefully open the comments up to the public if thats possible. Id also like to get a real URL, instead of whatnot.blogger.com.

Im aiming to have a well-organized, easy to read, breaking news blog. There is an unofficial organization of internet savvy folks out here, referred to commonly as "The Blogosphere." To check out some of the influence of said group, check this out:

I just saw an ad for Avenged Sevenfold in a damn comic book. Ive been listening to them for like four years, now all the Hot Topic, gothy, emo, fake metal kiddies will be rocking A7X like theyre OGs.

Same thing happened to me with Slipknot, back in 2000. I remember seeing them in concert in some shitty hole in the ground place in Raleigh, right before Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat came out, now look at em.

Every metal band I get into while theyre underground ends up becoming the high school flavor or the month. Ive gotta find a way to make money off of this.

And Im talking REAL metal, not that "rock" emo, high-pitched 'I Miss You and I hurt without you' bullcrap MTV and Fuse promotes as metal.

So, there havent been any elections in Iraq to form a new political system, or to elect a new head political leader. Which means that Hussein is still the president. The United States military summarily kidnapped the man from his country on false pretenses nearly a year ago, and has been holding him since.

This is wrong on the basic level, no matter what Hussein may or may not have done in his own country, while he was in power.

Imagine the shoe on the other foot. Imagine if the Chinese, just for example, came in and kidnapped Bush, on false pretenses. Imagine they held him for a year, accusing him of murdering innocent members of his own country (while the Chinese military proceeded to Shock and Awe American civilians, ahem, INSURGENTS, to death indiscriminantly) and then decided to have him tried by an emerging government on bullshit charges.

1.) If somebody tried to kidnap Bush, theyd be called terrorists.
2.) If anybody invaded OUR holy land, thatd make them terrorists.
3.) If anybody killed American citizens, thatd make them terrorists.

So what makes the Bush administration not terrorists?

Disclaimer: Well, not really a disclaimer. Am I pro-Saddam or anti-freedom or whatever? Seems to me like things have been rougher over there since we kidnapped Hussein. How many American soldiers died in Iraq before we captured Saddam, and compare that to the number after. Saddam didnt take my land, or kill any of my ancestors, so I dont really care what all he did over there. Give me Homeland Security first dammit, then worry about making up weapons to go to an unprofitable war over.

Now, Im putting forth the opinion that if the America/Iraq scenario since 9/11 had happened vice-a-versa, that the Iraqi's actions would be considered morally wrong, a crime against humanity, a hatred for freedom, and legally bankrupt.

Yet we lead the Coalition of the Willing, and we must Stay The Course.

I must say, that if I lived in a country of another type of government, that I would most certainly NOT want democracy to come knocking at my door. I really dont see how democracy = peace and freedom. (I mentioned this on a message board, which is linked to in the sidebar there, and got the following response from a friend of mine:)

So what will you do after Delay gets his ass handed to him by the Court? Karl Rove? Approval ratings dropping below the 30s? Making it harder for citizens to file bankruptcy, meantime passing laws that companies can plunder pensions? Dont forget Republicans, it isnt Democrats thatre trying to ruin your party, its George W. Bush. If people vote for another Republican within the next eight years, I will be Extrememly surprised.

Its been going on since Bush debated Gore, a small forgotten argument in the short memory of the press. Bush wanted to begin oil drilling offshore of Alaska, a wildlife preserve. Gore said its not worth it. Bush pointed out that a million barrels of oil a day (at that time) were imported from Saddam Hussein. Gore said oil isnt worth destruction of the world's wildlife.

And now the Bush administration is at it again. Never mind the fact that the Bush administration is to blame for repealing stringint policies institued by the Clinton administration protecting our wetlands. Wetlands that wouldve helped protect the Gulf Coast from Katrina. Never mind that Bush backed us out of the Kyoto treaty, a treaty signed by many of the world's largest smog-creators to help reduce the amount of environmental damage we are all doing.

Never mind that the oil benefit obtained by smashing up Alaska would take a decade to enter the economy.

And never mind the fact that finding oil elsewhere is not the solution to the oil crisis, its weaning Americans off of a basically unrenewable , dirty resource. Americans will continue to consume more and more oil exponentially, and the amount of available crude will continue to decline. Prices will rise, OPEC will become even more powerful. Its time to make the oil companies release all those alternative technologies that theyve bought out. Its time to explore new avenues of transportation and locomotion. The internal-combustion engine is so last century.

Politicians, voters, get started moving this country away from its oil dependancy. Not tomorrow. It shouldve been started on years ago.

Im going through what's basically a business takeover, as an employee of the business being bought out. You see these things happen with banks, cell phone companies, clothing stores, and department stores all the time, but it's very different when it happens to or around you.

Not only is your job in jeopardy, but everything youve gained in your time there is no longer honored. Vacation, sick time, benefits, all down the drain. Even time worked at current job, which is so important to credit bureaus, is null and void. Never mind the fact that you work at the same place. New bosses, new co-workers, new classes and handbooks.

All sarcasm and hate aside, Im just hoping I keep my job.

Of a sort, anyway. Just got back from a mini-excusion down to Charlotte with my secksee girlfriend. That place is seriously NASCAR country. The mall has a multitude of NASCAR related stores in it, more than any mall has a right to have. The mall there is humongous, well, compared to what Im used to anyway. I bought Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere while I was down there, Ill review it when I finish it.

Had a blast, have a headache. Sleepy time. Hopefully I can catch a few Z's before a superhero-type emergency hits again. Usually Superman is pretty good about handling, um, pretty much everything. But you never know, even criminals dont take holidays anymore.

Stan Goodenough, a website columnist, described Katrina as “the fist of God” in a Monday column. “What America is about to experience is the lifting of God’s hand of protection; the implementation of His judgment on the nation most responsible for endangering the land and people of Israel,” Goodenough writes. “The Bible talks about Him shaking His fist over bodies of water, and striking them.”

Hurricanes are Homophobic.

Just days before "Southern Decadence", an annual homosexual celebration attracting tens of thousands of people to the French Quarters section of New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina destroys the city.

"Southern Decadence" has a history of filling the French Quarters section of the city with drunken homosexuals engaging in sex acts in the public streets and bars. Last year, a local pastor sent video footage of sex acts being performed in front of police to the mayor, city council, and the media. City officials simply ignored the footage and continued to welcome and praise the weeklong celebration as being an "exciting event". Does this mean the United States is now in an undeclared state of civil war?

We've all heard about the looting, rioting, raping, and possible murdering down there. A handful of us know about the cops also looting, and possible grand theft auto. But this...they certainly arent telling us about this on the Today show.

The question is not, "How long is it going to take to rebuild New Orleans?" The question is, "Does the goverment have the resources at this point to rebuild New Orleans, and is it worth their time considering the current state of multinational affairs?"

After much deliberation, well not really, the $99 price tag sold me. Er...anyway, I went out and bought myself a Gamecube. Now, Im not a gaming noob, I have a score of games for my PC, a PSP, and of course, a GatesBox. But for some reason, the Gamecube is just...funner than all the above.

Gamecube has a heckuva library. I went down to Gamestop and had trouble picking out which games I am not going to buy. I picked up Tales of Symphonia, which is the best RPG Ive played in years. Im level grinding right now, which should suck, but even thats fun.

And I grabbed Sonic Mega Collection, because hey, its Sonic. And maybe I can trick my girlfriend into playing it. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Yeah, a can of wasp/hornet spray exploded inside a box of six at work today. We took the good cans out, and set the drenched box aflame. Hilarity ensued as the flames quickly flared up to four feet high. Man, Im lucky to have my eyebrows!
